Let me tell you what makes me different.

From 2018 to 2022 I ran a successful destination wedding planning business called Nulyweds. As a one-woman show, I did everything. I was the social media coordinator, copywriter, blogger, video editor, and email manager.

That’s on top of planning 10-12 luxury destination weddings every year.

And you know what? I was exhausted.

I mean Redbull-diet, daily micro-napping, pass-out-with-a-full-face-of-makeup exhausted.

But through trial and error with multiple marketing strategies, my business was fully booked every year I was in operation.

I was even invited to be on BBC Breakfast News to speak about Harry and Meghan’s Royal Wedding (here is the proof).

Here’s what I learned about marketing:

  1. Video is king

    I created a YouTube channel for my wedding planning business to connect with potential clients. Even with my (at the time) rudimentary editing skills, my YouTube videos brought me roughly 40% of my client bookings.

  2. SEO is queen

    While the SEO landscape is changing, it’s still one of the most reliable sources of traffic for businesses. It took me only 6 months to reach the first page of Google for high-traffic keywords like “Portugal Wedding Planner”. This was mostly due to an effective SEO content strategy using SEMRush.

  3. Success with email requires laser-focused messaging

    Using SEO and YouTube as TOF marketing channels, I grew my mailing list to over 400 subscribers within 6 months. I then used segmentation to divide my audience and deliver messages directed at where they were in their wedding planning.

So all in all, being a solopreneur made me a rather brilliant, inquisitive, results-focused marketer.
